A newer Wi-Fi generation adds capabilities only when the router, client devices, radio conditions and wired network can use them. For many UK homes, placement and backhaul will change everyday performance more than replacing a working Wi-Fi 6 system.

1. List the Wi-Fi standards supported by the devices that handle the heaviest traffic.
2. Compare an Ethernet test with Wi-Fi beside the router to identify the present limit.
3. Check whether poor rooms are caused by distance or walls rather than radio capacity.
