Circle Utility

Cookie and tracking settings

Everything optional is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it back off here at any time.

You have not made a choice yet. Until you do, everything optional stays off.

  • Necessary

What the site needs to work at all: remembering this choice, and running a measurement when you press Start. There is nothing optional in here, which is why it cannot be switched off.

  • Analytics

Anonymous daily counts of which pages and tools are used, which offers are opened, and whether our outbound links work. No exact time, visitor ID, measurements or form entries. Daily source files are deleted after 31 days.

  • Advertising

Measuring whether an advertisement led to a visit. Nothing is switched on today because no advertiser is configured, and this stays off until one is.

  • Personalisation

Using what we know about your visit to change what you are shown. We do not do this, and the switch exists so that if we ever did, you would have said yes first.

What analytics means here

If you allow analytics, the site sends bounded events to its own server so we can count which tracked pages and tools are used, which approved offers are opened, and whether outbound redirects work. Each contribution has a UTC date, not an exact time, and labels chosen by us. It has no visitor or session ID, IP address, user agent, referrer, destination URL, diagnostic measurement or anything you typed. Landing sources and campaigns use a closed list chosen by us; raw query strings and referrers are discarded in the browser. Private daily source files are deleted after 31 days.

The one cookie the site sets is the one recording the choice you make on this page. It holds four yes/no values, a policy version and a date. It lasts for up to twelve months, is not shared with an analytics vendor, and “Forget my choice” deletes it. Withdrawing analytics stops new collection immediately.

Advertising and personalisation are not active. Affiliate links may still work when those switches are off because they are ordinary disclosed outbound links; analytics consent only controls whether Circle Utility counts the journey locally.

What we will not do

  • No analytics event is stored before you agree. Both the browser and the server check the current version of your choice, and missing, old or corrupt choices are treated as no.
  • Nothing is queued while you decide. A queue of events waiting for consent is a record of what you did before you agreed to be recorded.
  • No diagnostic measurement leaves your browser for analytics. A completion label may be counted, never the figures or form entries behind it.

This is not a certified consent platform

Worth stating plainly. What you are using is our own implementation: a first-party cookie and the switches above. It is not an IAB TCF-certified consent management platform, and we do not claim it is. If personalised advertising is ever introduced, a certified platform is required before it can be, and adopting one will replace the mechanism behind this page.

The privacy page covers what the site does with what it measures, including the parts that have nothing to do with cookies.
